"
We approached a private family foundation, and it is a brand new foundation.
They have 176 million dollars to give, that's a lot of money. They
had given us a donation in the past in memory of someone. And the
family had really not had a lot of direct exposure to us it was through
the individual who had past away that had been supportive of us. So
we walked into a meeting with the chairman of the foundation. Who
was very nice, but you could tell was, you know, obviously this was
one more person just wanting us to give them money. And our approach
was, you know, we could talk to you, we could show you brochures,
we can give you all sorts of things. But what we want to do is for
you to understand that we do make a difference in people's lives.
All we did was put in the video, we showed the video, right as we
were going through the video the person recognized one of the things
we had done with the initial contribution. And said, I remember when
I came to the thank you that the car was there I saw the car, so it
was really neat that she recognized something that had happen as a
result of the initial contribution. But watching the video, when we
got to the end of it, she was literally… She's going how much do you
want and fortunately my board member said, I'd like a million dollars,
cause I was going to ask for half of that, but she said I'd like a
million dollars and she said is that all. " |
